Diaspora Potluck

The Library Minyan is pleased to announce the second season of Diaspora Potluck occasions during the 2011-2012 / 5771-5772 year.

Just like last year, we will be holding a series of four shared meals in locations off-site from Temple Beth Am. (If TBA is the Minyan¹s center, then homes and parks are the “diaspora” locales where people can come together in fresh ways.)

In planning the season of events, the DPL committee has taken into consideration feedback and experience from last year.  We will be offering the same three types of get-together, but aspects of each will be different. The types are (1) Shabbat lunch in a home close to TBA — there will be two of these (2) a Friday night dinner in multiple locations, and (3) a 2nd day of Shavout picnic in the park.

Here’s the schedule so that you can put the dates into your calendar. In each case, details will follow.

The format for all four gatherings is participatory and potluck. Each will have coordinators to handle participation and help the hosts organize things. Lunches will be milchig/parve, and the site-host will determine dietary choice for the Friday night dinners.

If you would like to host one of the Shabbat dinners or have questions/suggestions regarding the program, please contact Teri Cohan Link linkco@gmail.com or Susan Laemmle laemmle@usc.edu.

Sign-ups will be in electronic form and will be sent to the minyan mailing list 2-4 weeks prior to each potluck event. If you currently do not receive email from the minyan, you can sign up on at www.libraryminyan.org.  Sign-ups for the events will be via email.

This year’s Diaspora Potluck committee consists of: Mark Bodenstein, Val Goldstein, Susan Grinel, Susan Laemmle, and Teri Cohan Link.  Bob Roosth handles electronic communication, and Abby Harris provides overall support. If you’d like the join the committee, please contact Teri or Susan Laemmle.
